Artist Statement
I’ve always seen art and music as two sides of the same coin, both ways to express what words can’t quite reach. After decades of playing drums around the world, painting became a new way for me to slow down and reflect. It lets me explore a different rhythm. One that’s more personal, more visual, but just as emotional.
My work focuses mainly on portraits and landscapes. I’m drawn to people’s stories and the feeling certain places give you. I don’t aim to copy reality exactly. What interests me is capturing a mood or a moment that feels alive. Sometimes that means changing the colours, shifting the perspective, or just letting instinct take over.
I believe art should make you feel something. It can lift your mood, spark a memory, or simply offer a bit of calm in a noisy world. Painting has done that for me. Especially during tough times – and I hope my work can do the same for others.
At the end of the day, I’m not trying to be clever or fancy with it. I just paint what moves me, and I let the rest take care of itself.
